Ben Hutchings believes that lasting change begins from within. Since entering the counseling field in 2000, he has dedicated his career to supporting children (8 and older), adolescents, adults, and families navigating complex challenges including divorce and family transitions, trauma from abuse and neglect, codependency as well as depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns.
Ben holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary and has served as President of the Central Florida Play Therapy chapter. In 2012, he and his wife Aubrey founded Open Doors Counseling Center, creating a space where healing and transformation could flourish.
Ben specializes in helping individuals who feel overwhelmed, struggle with anger, or have emotionally shut down. He creates a safe, accepting environment where clients can process their experiences and develop healthier ways of coping. His current clinical focus centers on attachment and relational bonding challenges, and he brings extensive training in working with psychosis, bipolar disorder, and suicidal ideation.
Having benefited from counseling as a child himself, Ben is passionate about helping young people address their struggles in the present rather than carrying them into adulthood. Outside the office, he enjoys restoring cars, camping, and hiking in the mountains. As a licensed supervisor, Ben also provides clinical supervision to interns working toward licensure.
